The Original
parrot central

(Just for the heck of it, I updated this page on June 12, 2012)

Note: Contents of this site pre-date the World Wide Web. The actual page web page was launched in 1995 went through several renditions but eventually went dormant with the introduction of Maragritaville.com and the Church of Buffett, Orthodox. This page was originally located at: http://tigger.cc.uic.edu/~toby-g/parrot/parrot.html. It was moved several times.

The page was the second Jimmy Buffett fan web site on the World Wide Web. The first was www.soasoas.com (Son of a Son of a Sailor, hosted by Dave April - the URL is now used for his photography work.) The Church of Buffett, Orthodox (www.cobo.org) was the third site to pop-up. Originally that site was run by Kirk Lockhart who went on to produce a Todd Snider web site. COB,O was passed on to Chris Wilson. Parrot Central went part and parcel with the Buffett-listserv which was moderated by Bill Lack.

By 1998, there were more Jimmy Buffett sites, than spilt salt shakers at a Buffett concert. Most of them sucked or stole stuff from SOASOAS. The only Parrothead fan site ever mentioned by Buffett in Concert was SOASOAS and Church of Buffett, Orthodox. With the introduction of Margaritiville. com. Dave April soon disbanded SOASOAS. Church of Buffett, Orthodox last for several years until it was horribly hacked. Chris Wilson brought it down a few years later because it was too time consuming to repair.

I 've decided to leave Parrot Central up despite being grossly out of date as a tribute to the early days of Parrot Heads on the internet.

All in all I'm a stage 9 Buffett fan. You can find out what that is by reading these pages.

To the left is a scanned image of the actual pop top that Jimmy Buffett stepped on which led to cut heal, a margarita, a failed relationship and song that made him famous. It was given to me by Marvin Gardens. Make me an offer. It could be yours!
